Campaign schedule and "Forever"

Every campaign has a schedule, set in the Campaign Setup step of the wizard: a start date, and an optional end date. This section explains what those dates actually do today — which is narrower than you might expect — plus what happens when a new campaign's schedule overlaps with one that's already active.

Start dates, end dates, and "Forever"

Important: a campaign's start and end dates are not currently enforced on your storefront. Once a campaign is launched, it's shown to customers immediately — the start and end dates are recorded and shown on your campaign list (for example, as a "Scheduled" label before the start date), but a future start date does not delay when the campaign actually appears, and an end date does not automatically stop it from appearing once that date passes. If you want a campaign to stop showing on a specific date, deactivate it yourself (see Editing & Deactivating a Campaign) — don't rely on the end date alone to do that for you.

Choosing Forever simply means you haven't set an end date. Since end dates aren't enforced at serving time regardless, the practical difference between "Forever" and a real end date is mainly what shows on your own campaign list, not what customers ever see.

To make picking an end date faster, the wizard also offers quick-pick shortcuts of 30, 60, or 90 days from the start date. These are pure convenience — they just fill in an end date for you. You're never limited to those three options; you can pick any exact start and end date instead.

Overlapping campaigns

Soreto is built around one campaign being meaningfully active at a time. If you create a new campaign so that its dates overlap with a campaign that's already active, Soreto automatically deactivates the previous campaign as part of creating the new one, rather than running both at once. This is intentional, expected behavior, not a bug.

This overlap handling happens specifically when a new campaign is created — it's not a continuous background check. If you separately reactivate a previously-deactivated campaign later, Soreto doesn't currently check whether that clashes with whatever is active at the time (see Editing & Deactivating a Campaign for that case).

The practical implication for a planned follow-up campaign: creating your next campaign is enough to hand off from the current one — you don't need to manually deactivate the current campaign first, as long as you create (not just schedule via dates alone) the new one when you want the handoff to happen.

Common questions

  • Can I schedule a campaign to start in the future? You can set a future start date, but be aware it won't stop the campaign from being shown right away — as explained above, start dates aren't currently enforced on the storefront. If you're not ready for customers to see it yet, don't launch the campaign until you are.
  • What happens to a campaign after its end date passes? Nothing automatic — it keeps showing on your storefront until you deactivate it, or until a new overlapping campaign is created and takes over. Treat the end date as a planning note for yourself, not a guarantee.
